Nate B. Jones on AI Prompting
Prompting is how you tell an AI what you want from it. As of May 2026, Nate B. Jones says everyone is now expected to know prompt engineering, so it no longer sets you apart. For heavy work with agents, he treats the AI as a senior partner and asks sharp questions that carry your intent, the edges of the job and the data to examine.

Questions
Does prompt engineering require coding skills?
In Nate's view, no. As of February 2026, he says the practical skill going forward is describing an outcome with enough precision that an autonomous system can execute against it for days or weeks. In his example, the person who gets 10x more done is practicing a different skill, and he says she isn't smarter or more technical. He applies the same task decomposition to a marketing content audit as to a coding task.
